San Antonio trip recommendations?

Question by Spyderbear: San Antonio trip recommendations?
My friend and I will be travelling to San Antonio at the end of the year. What are somethings to do in or near the city other than the Alamo, Riverwalk, Zoo, and Sea World?

Well, there are 319 attractions within 10 miles of downtown….so the best thing to do is check in your hotel lobby where they have the brochure stand and pick from hundreds of things….what you like best. There is a visitors center across from the alamo that has free maps and recommendations and tons of brochures also. Believe me, there is plenty to do and see….even if you just stay downtown and walk it.
Enjoy your visit.

When you’re downtown, check out the Tower of the Americas. The rotating top floors offer awesome 360 degree views of the city. I don’t believe it costs anything just to ride up the see-thru elevator to the top, but if you want, you can eat at the restaurant & bar that also rotates. Also around downtown is Ripley’s Believe it or Not which is pretty cool. I might think of other things to do later, and I’ll edit this if I do. Have fun in SAT!

The San Antonio Botanical Gardens are lovely any time of the year. Also, the Alamo isn’t the only mission in San Antonio. Check out the other four that are the San Antonio Missions National Historical Park.

Also in San Antonio are many great museums (the McNay and the Museum of Art are both well worth seeing.) The Institute of Texan Cultures, located near the Tower of the Americas, is most interesting.

While you’re at the Zoo, walk over to the newly renovated Japanese Tea Gardens.

If you’re not into huge crowds, you might want to avoid downtown San Antonio on New Year’s Eve. They have quite a party there at that time.

    Have a great trip!
