San Antonio River Walk
Hundreds of thousands of visitors come to enjoy the magic of the River Walk annually, to take pleasure in this uncommon city sanctuary that meanders beside the San Antonio River in central area of San Antonio just one story beneath the busy street level. Eateries, galleries and stores run along the banks of the River Walk while the northern and southern banks of the river itself are not nearly as commercialized.

There are a wide variety of restaurants along the way, with a selection of everything from family dining to a romantic dinner for two. It’s convenient to such a wide variety of shops and restaurants together in a single location. At one end of the river is the Riverside Mall, often featuring live outdoor music played on the patio.
One of the best ways to enjoy the sites along the River Walk, including the new art installations is by sunset taxi ride. The rides are available at very reasonable rates where visitors can enjoy a fascinating historic overview of the different buildings, sculptures, and vegetation.
You’ll be able to truly experience the immense beauty and charm of the art as it is illuminated in the darkness. You can grab a river taxi at conveniently located stops along the River Walk. Taxi drivers will usually have tickets right on board for you to purchase, or it time allows, you can purchase tickets beforehand at one of the ticket locations.
Though the main downtown space is approximately one mile, the river itself extends quite a bit in the northern and southern directions. The depth of the river runs from between two and five feet within the ‘managed’ area between the floodgates, but is quite a bit deeper, from between twenty and twenty-five feet outside.
